Schouten to Miss Opening Round of Parts Canada Superbike Series

The Parts Canada Superbike series kicks off this weekend at Le Circuit ICAR in Montreal, Quebec. One rider who will not be on the grid this weekend is Kahuna Powersports Kawasaki sponsored rookie Pro rider Vicki Schouten.

A highside crash at the last RACE Superseries regional at Shannonville resulted in a compound fracture in Schouten's right foot. She was ambulanced to the Belleville hospital where she later underwent surgery. "I have seven pins and a couple of plates holding my foot together right now," explained Vicki, "It's not my shifter foot which is a good thing, but the pain and swelling is still insurmountable and doctors figure it's going to take some time to heal."

Prior to her crash, Schouten was a force to be reckoned with having set pole and a new lap record in the Women's Cup Challenge qualifying heat race, and qualified in 8th position in the Pro 600 class. She raced the Women's Cup Challenge on Sunday with a broken foot and managed to pilot her Kawasaki ZX-6R to a strong third place podium finish.

A special thanks to all of the corner workers, medical crew and friends who helped Vicki following her crash. Vicki would also like to thank her sponsors who have been extremely understanding during her recovery. Schouten is supported by Canadian Kawasaki Motors, Parts Canada, Kahuna Powersports, Alpinestars, HJC helmets, Galfer brakes, Motul lubricants, AutoTrim & Signs and Bickle Racing.

Look for Schouten to competing in future rounds of the Parts Canada Superbike Championship series soon.
