Round 3 Pro Honda Oils Women's Cup Challenge
Goyer enjoys her weekend in the scorching heat at Mosport International Raceway!
The humidex didn't stop Goyer from having a good weekend. With very little time and experience on this track, Goyer started off with a lap time of 1.41 during Thursday morning pratice. But it didn't take long before she dropped to 1.36 during the afternoon pratice. Goyer stated: "It's a very fast track, and it's scary. So it takes quite a few laps before getting comfortable and going faster."
Friday poured rain and Goyer, along with most of the other racers, opted not to go out. This meant that Goyer's next session would be Saturday morning's qualifying. She says: "My goal at this point was to go out and cut at least three seconds off my time and I knew where I had to improve to get those seconds." The results illustrated just that when Goyer qualified 4th in the Expert class with a lap time of 1.33.
The race took place on Saturday afternoon, where Goyer finished 4th, and again beat her personal best with a time of 1.32. Goyer explains: "I had a bad start, and when I finally made a beautiful pass on the inside of #332 coming out of turn 1, I put my head down and caught up to #80 who was about three seconds ahead of me. I attempted two passes on the last lap but didn't get around her. I know that if we'd have another lap, or even another corner I would've passed her. But all in all it was a good race. I had a lot of fun and I beat my personal best, so I was really happy with that considering I don't have a lot of track time at Mosport."
Goyer must now go home and get ready for round 4 of the R.A.C.E. regional series at Shannonville Motorsports Park this coming weekend. She will be participating in the Women's Open and Novice 600 classes.
