WMRRA Round 5 – Spokane County Motorsports Park
To sum things up, the race weekend was mixed with success and tragedy. I managed to come away with another personal best finish and best lap time. Likewise, the battles with Jeff Seehorn, Brad DeLong, and Doug Hillius made for a fun time on the track! Despite the fact that we were all sliding around due to very warm temperatures, the competition remained tight, and we all pushed each other to new levels. Here are the results for the weekend:
600 Supersport: 5th Place (*Best finish in dry conditions*)
600 Superbike: 6th Place, 1.30.2 (Personal best lap time for SCMP track)
750 Superbike: 8th Place
I'd like to thank everyone in the pits and all of our sponsors for helping us come away with another successful weekend! We are currently 4th overall in points in 600 Supersport, 6th in 600 Superbike, and 8th in 750 Superbike - I never thought we would have come this far in the season. Holding on to these standing will be quite the challenge, but I'm more than ready for the fight in the rounds to come.
Unfortunately, our club has faced another tragedy this season. Khalil Mohmed, Racer #928, lost his life in an accident during the weekend's Novice race. It has been very difficult trying to deal with the loss of two racers this season - everyone in our club is family. Once again, my thoughts and prayers go out to Khalil's family and friends.
WMRRA Round 6 will take place at Pacific Raceways - August 14th - 15th. I look forward to seeing everyone soon.
Cheers,
Wendy Kristen Leber
