7th & 8th August 2010. East Fortune. Melville.
It was East Fortune at the weekend and my dad and I went down on Friday to get set up. It was sunny but drizzly. We got all scruitineered and ready for Saturday. Saturday I woke up and it was dry but a bit cloudy.
Aprilia practice: It was good to be back out and it was a good wee run. GP practice: I was going to practice pulling tape off on the last lap, and unlike at Croft I was successful and pulled it off.
Aprilia qualifying: I stupidly went out last, and had to work my way through the classics. I made my way up so I had a clear track and managed to put my wee bikey on pole :) - it was also starting to spit a little but it never really phased me that much.
GP qualifying: I was running round myself. When it started really drizzling, I was surprised at how grippy my slicks actually were. I qualified 3rd, but 6th including the big bikes - which meant I was on the inside of the second row which I liked. :)
Aprilia race 1: It was dry-ish. hehe. But it was too dry for wets so it was dries. :) I got an alright start and led the whole 10 laps. I got a little lonely but it wasn't long before the big bikes caught up with me. They can also be annoying as they decide to stop in the middle of a corner - but I suppose that kept me alert: It started getting a little warmer as well.
GP race 1: I got a diabolical start and ended up nearer the back of the pack. So for me it was a long and lonely battle in my desperate attempt to catch the other GP bikes wayyyy ahead. :( I had to settle for 3rd, which I was still pleased with.
Aprilia race 2: I got a better start this time and lap by lap my lead was getting bigger. I was chuffed with another win.
GP race 2: This race we had to unfortunatly put wets on as it was very wet. It was a quite disfunctional race. I got a weird start and was able to get up beside Stuart. Going into railway when I tried to brake hard and late. I realised my brake lever was out a bit too much, as I was on my other bike - and I was struggling to brake. There was a dry line starting to form so I had to keep on the black stuff. hehe. I had to settle for 3rd again. I had a fun race though.
Saturday night dad and I stripped and re-built my gp bike in the sun.
Sunday
Aprilia race 3: My first race was going to be dry and I was excited to be getting three races in each class. I got a reasonable start and managed to get to the front, except I had to pass a 80cc bike along the road. It took me a couple of laps but I got to the front eventually. I got a gap from the other riders and finished first.
GP race 3: I got a really good start and was leading out of the GP bikes, when on the second lap I stupidly ran wide at railway and I had to catch up. I had a big bike stuck in front of me but I think he was dragging me to Jason so I decided to tag along. Two laps to go and we were on him, I was trying my hardest... and I eventually got him at the second last turn. :D 2nd for me. I also made my new lap record of a 1.06.50, so I was mega pleased.
Aprilia race 4: I had a good wee play on the track myself as I was a good wee bit in front of everyone. :) It was getting very hot now and I felt I had been out for ages.
GP race 4: The race of the weekend for me, as me and Jason were having a right good tussle throughout the race. It was amazing! Except there was a big bike in front of us which was causing us a bit of hassle! Jason and I were leaning on each other, it was CRAZY! It came down to the last lap and he just pipped me to the line... JUST. It was still such an awsome race!
Aprilia race 5: It was rather hot and I wanted to have five wins on the Aprilia, which I succeeded in doing. I was chuffed after my race. I was extremely roasting and couldn't wait to get my helmet off at the end of the race.
GP race 5: My last race of the weekend and I wanted to end it on a high with a second place. I got an allright start and was up with Stuart and Jason when we approached the big bikes and Stuart managed to work his way through them quicker than me or Jason. I led Jason all the way to the line but he was breathing on me all the way! :D I was so pleased to finish with a 2nd.
I had a great weekend except from feeling a little bluhhh on Saturday as I didn't feel all too good. Thankyou to all who helped out and also to people who have kindly given me photos.
Knockhill at the weekend... double whammy. :-D
