Formula Xtreme Championship - Round 5 - Eastern Creek- NSW - Oct 2010
The final round of the Formula Xtreme Series was held at my home track so I was very excited to be taking my ladies out for their last outing for 2010. Friday practice went well and a small gearing change on the R6 made all the difference as my times were slowly creeping down to where my goal was for the weekend. Saturday's racing went great guns, minus a few slow starts off the grid I managed to score a personal best lap time on the R6 which I was very happy with. The bike worked like a treat and she has never felt better. The 1000cc bike continues to surprise me with all her power, she's totally different to the 600cc to ride so as I was racing back to back classes I really had to adjust to the way she handles compared to the R6, but she definitely is a whole lot of fun. Once again I was the only girl against all the guys in both classes so I had my work cut out for me as some of those guys are very aggressive riders!
On the Sunday I managed to crack my goal for the 1000cc and I ended up winning the C grade overall for the day in the Formula Oz class. Sorry boys! I got a personal best lap time on the big girl as well. I had a number of helpers on the weekend assisting me with the bikes and selling my McGrath merchandise so thanks to my family and friends that helped out - not to mention an extra big thank you to my boyfriend for being crew chief to my ladies, he did an awesome job preparing my bikes.
Racing two bikes at one meeting was definitely tougher than I first imagined, at the beginning of the 2010 racing season I only had my 600 to play with so when the opportunity was presented to ride an R1 I couldn't resist. I had never ridden a 1000cc before and it has really taken more than a few laps on it to get my head around the power and weight difference compared to the 600 but more and more time in the saddle is seeing me slowly get faster than my trusty 600cc. So racing two bikes was definitely a big challenge for me this year, lucky for me I like a challenge and I love to ride!
I have one more race meeting before the season is finished for 2010 - I will be racing in the final round of the St George series on the 13/14th November at Eastern Creek then it's time to hang up the boots until 2011. I'll be back with an even brighter pink paint job and new rubber to burn!
