WMRRA Round 7 - End of Season Race Report
The last round of the season couldn't have been more challenging, yet I couldn't have asked for a better ending! We were faced with two make-up races on Saturday (those missed at the beginning of the season). Thus, I had five sprint races to compete in - more than I've ever run in my entire racing career in one weekend. However, the extra races gave me another chance to earn points towards the overall season standings. Here's the results for the weekend:
Saturday:
750 Superbike (Make-up Race) - 6th Place
600 Superbike (Make-up Race) - 5th Place
600 Supersport - 6th Place
Sunday:
600 Superbike (Make-up Race) - 5th Place
600 Superbike - 5th Place (1'27.4 - personal best lap time!)
750 Superbike - 8th Place Overall
Class Standings for the 2010 WMRRA Season:
600 Supersport - 4th Place!!
600 Superbike - 6th Place
750 Superbike - 7th Place
Overall Club Standings (Combined Season Points): 12th Place
I not only reached my goals for the season - I ended up surpassing them considerably. I managed to go faster and place higher in the individual and overall standings than ever before! The physical training in the off-season and the change in attitude helped tremendously. With this in mind, I have really learned what strategies work to improve myself as a rider. This knowledge will be extremely important for success in pursuing my future racing goals.
I'd like to thank Dave Alexander of Fluid Suspension Science for not only providing an incredibly strong motor, but for rebuilding the stock suspension and making it work phenomenally well! Dave was also responsible for fixing and replacing the damaged transmission that plagued us last season - this year, it worked flawlessly. Finally, Dave has always been an incredible mentor! His advice has been priceless, and he has never given up on me.
Furthermore, a big thanks goes out to Tom Young and the entire Competition Motors / Pirelli crew. You guys have provided an unbeatable level of service every season! I can't count how many times you have helped me in the pits with mounting my wheels and making sure all of my questions are answered. Likewise, the tires were fantastic this season! Every year, Pirelli passes down new and impressive improvements in their tire technology. These performance improvements translate to success on the race track!
Of course, the race weekend would be quite a bit more challenging without the help of everyone in the Fluid Suspension Science pits. For all of you who have provided assistance to us throughout the season in so many ways (the Friesen family, Nick Finken, Brian Trudeau, and everyone else) - thank you!
Finally, words cannot express how much I appreciate the support from all of our 2010 season sponsors! Your products and services are essential to our success each year. As mentioned many times before, my ability to live out my life passion on the race track would not be possible without everyone's help. Once again, thank you! We have some exciting plans for next season, including a return to AutoClub Speedway in January for the 2011 WERA-West opening round. Finances pending, we are hoping to participate in another 1-2 race weekends with WERA-West or OMRRA. Likewise, I'm considering the purchase of a Kawasaki Ninja 250R to compete in the new WMRRA class forming next season. Wintertime training will most likely include a mix of bicycling, running, arenacross, and flat track practice.
We look forward to working with many of our 2010 sponsors next season, as well as some new sponsors for 2011. We will continue to provide updates throughout the off-season regarding our plans for next year. Have a great winter and holiday season!
Cheers,
Wendy Kristen Leber
