Honda Rjays St George Road Race Series - ABC&D 600cc - Round 3 - Eastern Creek - Nov 2010
Last Race for 2010 goes down with a blast!
The last round of the St George Road Race Series was held last weekend at my home track at Eastern Creek and I had my 600cc bike out for its last hurrah before the 2011 season begins in February. The weekend's sweltering heat made the track temperature less than desired causing the track surface to be a little slippery that's for sure. There's always that fine line of just how much traction you can get before you feel the rear tyre spin up, an exciting feeling at times but not exactly the fastest way around the track! I was racing in the 600cc class all weekend with the ABC&D riders, so I tried to get a good qualifying time. As there was an entry list of 38 riders, I knew I had to be up the front to get a run with the fast guys. I went out in qualifying and did get a good time (1.38.2, but I think there must have been some timing issues!) on one lap but then as I was going for my flying lap I crashed! Back in the pits and some minor adjustments I was back on track ready for race 1. I ended up scoring 2nd place overall on the qualifying grid. I was stoked - first time all year on the front row for the beginning of a race. Its definitely a better view from there!
The first race saw me lead the pack into turn 2 but by the second lap I had slipped to 3rd position. A gear change into turn 2 saw me kick of my gear lever and I was stuck in 5th gear for the rest of the race - unfortunately I ended up in 7th. All 5 races that weekend saw me finish in the top 6 which was pleasing.
It was nice to end the 2010 season with some fast lap times under my belt - it gives me confidence to prepare for the 2011 season. I have been fortunate enough this year to have a number of sponsors back me so I can continue racing and raising awareness for breast cancer and push the fact that females can race motorbikes! My racing plans for 2011 will be revealed shortly and I look forward to representing my sponsors for the 2011 season aboard my two pink ladies.

Overall Place for the 2010 series all classes combined: 8th.
