Formula Xtreme Championship FX600cc Class - Round 1 - Wakefield Park
It was a great weekend of racing at Wakefield Park and I had forgot how much fun the small delight at Goulburn really is. I hadn't ridden at the track in 18 months nor have I had the pleasure of racing my Yamaha R6 around there - except for a few small laps in an endurance that 18 months ago so it was a solid three days of riding and six full races so it's no wonder I'm sore today! We were blessed with a wind free beautiful 30 degree day both Saturday and Sunday so racing conditions were perfect, well maybe a bit hot in the leathers perhaps. There was one qualifying session and three races on Saturday and the same for Sunday.
It was awesome to share a track with Kevin Curtain so to see him overtake you at warp speeds any racer would only do their best to follow him to see what race lines he take to get themselves faster! Well it helped as my times improved dramatically from the first qualifying session to the last race of the day. Once again I was the only girl amongst the mob of males trying to win. I was hoping after Saturdays racing that I could use the same set of tyres for Sunday however I was informed once a tryre start to blister then the grip level decrease rapidly - and well I was wondering why I was getting alot of movement from my rear tyre on the exit of some turns! A new rear tyre worked its magic for Sunday's racing and I got a personal best lap time for Wakefield Park. My bike had no changes made to the suspension settings, just a gearing change made "Pinky" rev her engine to her peak taking me home through every chequered flag in one piece.
